At least there's now one documented lacrosse save from commotio cordis. this is good news for those advocating use of AED's and training of coaches, trainers, etc.
Our coach is really pushing for one right now. I believe we are for sure getting one. But what the news said is right. Its not the force of the shot that does all the damage. Its the right timing.

| That's why we have trainers at our games with one on hand. | |

| Thats somewhat scary knowing that happens, but releiving that he was saved because of it... wonder if he will step back infront of the net again. | |

| Yep...I remember reading about a kid who was cleaning out the goal during pregame and someone took a shot and hit him in the back of the head/neck(where the helmet doesn't cover) and killed him. | |

| Pregame warmups can be one of the most dangerous places as many players aren't 100% attentive. I remember once upon a time an eye being nearly destroyed by WLF's own Dwins... Still remember that day Storts. | |

| Wisconsin Lacrosse Federation should make them mandatory on the sideline of every game. I don't care if they need to give officials or coaches a course on how to use them.
My school has a few of them, and they are on the sidelines every game and practice. One of the best things about playing NCAA is the assurance of your trainers. Our staff is amazing, and we have a few trainers on staff for every game, and for the most part, one at every practice.
Those things are great to have, its sad to see things like that happen, but good he made a recovery.

| Regents have had an AED on the sidelines and at every practice since 2006...I can't imagine a worse scenario than wishing we had one...should be mandatory. | |

| Read this add on story http://www.jacksonville.com/tu-online/stories/030708/met_254598207.shtml
Really makes sad thinking if you were in that coward. His parents weren't there people had trouble calling his parents, his team mates were throwing pads looking for his phone. Man just sucks thinking about some of that, read the whole story.

| Crazy stuff...AED's are pretty fool proof too so it wouldn't be difficult for anyone to use one. I would think any adult at a game would be able to work one properly. I can't remember for sure, but I think in health class my sophomore year they had an AED that we learned how to use. It did everything exactly the same as a real one, but didn't put out a shock.
I do agree that they should be mandatory to have on the sidelines. I would rather spend the money on one and never use it, than have to need one and it not be there.

| I think at least, a coach should be able to burrow one from a Fire station, or hospital for a game. | |
