Good game today between Arrowhead and Marquette. The first quarter was pretty much Marquette possessing and and good old fashion goalie shoot out. Some amazing saves in the first which ended in a 2-2 tie. The 2nd and 3rd were pretty much back and forth trading goals, it was either tied or Arrowhead by one. The 4th was the deciding quarter where a well disciplined Marquette gave two penalties and at least one goal from man down. Couple fast break goals for Arrowhead and a few good passing led to goals, but over all a good tight game.
In my opinion was the state championship game I don't believe that any other team could beat either of these teams.
Well played Marquette and good luck to Arrowhead.

Cause when MUHS plays a solid game, they are VERY good.

From what ive heard that seems pretty accurate...I do not know about their other losses, but I was able to see them play when they lost to Kettle Moraine. At times, they dominated, like the first quarter where they were up like 5-0. Then at other times they fell apart. Dont know why, but it seems they have trouble playing to the full of their ability for an entire game because at times they showed a lot of talent. I assume they played hard the whole game today because they stayed pretty even with Arrowhead?

Yeah Marquette does seem to come out strong and then kinda fades away. The championship game was very tight the whole game and felt very tight until about 4 min left in the game.

I'm not going to disagree on the assumption that game could qualify as the state championship. I think given the state tournament was in Milwaukee, then possibly yes, those teams very well could have been in the championship.

However, based on the fact that Arrowhead lost three in state games, two of which were to Middleton and KM (two teams with a significant amount on losses) it is completely biased and unfair to say this was the state championship.

And that statement is certainly nothing against Marquette, but its unfair to those other teams to just assume Marquette is better then all of them.

I understand your point, but I just think that from what I saw from Marquette that they never really played up to their potentional. Not to say that those losses were flukes, but that Marquette got outplayed. I don't know if they ever played a full game at 100%, and if they did I think they could beat just about anyone in the state.

Yeah but then again you could say if Verona won all of their 1 goal games they'd be the second best team in the state. It doesn't mean they are. Good teams get it done and don't say "well if we were 100%".

Kettle Moraine went 13 - 4 this year, all four of their losses coming to Arrowhead or Marquette. Only Arrowhead, Wausau, and Waunakee have fewer losses than KM.

And I think foxmoto643 meant that the game between Marq and Arrowhead was like the championship game should be, in that either team can and would probably contend for the title and that it was such a back and forth exciting game.

Edit:misread foxmoto643 from sioux, changed

HOPEFULLY Wausau doesn't hire officials that are Seniors in the Wausau school district...

Wausau has never hired seniors from the Wausau school district to ref and last game there were no wausau school district alumni even. just throwing that out there

You are correct Butters. as the WLF Head ref, he get to select the officials for the Championships. At least that's how it went last year.

Wausau went up 3-1 first quarter
Waunakee fought back and had a 3 goal lead going into half
Wausau got down and didn't come back up
Waunakee continued to dominate the 3rd and 4th quarter

Good Luck at State
