Eight members of the Regents lacrosse team visited with six patients at the UW Children's Hospital on Saturday, March 29. Corey Elfman (Edgewood), David Rasmussen (West), Eli Clarke-Davis (West), Tim Neuman (West), Nick Virnoche (Edgewood), Zach Schroeder (Edgewood), Ryan Weisenberger (Edgewood) and Harry Nelson (Edgewood) spent about an hour that Saturday morning talking with the patients about lacrosse as well as other things like school studies, TV shows and other favorite sports.
The patients, who ranged in age from 4 to 19, learned the basics of lacrosse, got to throw and catch with some of the players and even got to try on some equipment. Players signed lacrosse balls and Regent jerseys for all the patients...special thanks to Coach Zwettler from Edgewood for providing several basketballs and EHS basketball t-shirts which the children loved as well.
The time spent with the children was priceless and hopefully will serve as an inspiration to those who participated as well as the team in general...sometimes in the heat of sports competition we tend to forget how good we have it and how blessed we are.
