due to weather conditions, the UMLL div.1 conf. tournament was not played this weekend. Instead, the tournament was called off and the Conf. Championship and National tournament Bid was awarded to UM-Duluth.

duluth was certainly the favorite, but i wanted to hear from you Minnesota boys(who had the next best shot) about the situation....

...lame.

The decision to award the conference title to Duluth was, based on the situation, the only viable option. Nevertheless, to see the seniors' faces and know that they never got a second shot at Duluth or closure to a long season is a pretty sh*tty feeling.

Not to mention, the U usually gets pounded by Duluth in our first meeting of the season, and then plays them to a close finish in the conference championship. We deserved to decide the outcome for ourselves.

Agree completely.

I'm on the 5-member UMLL board as the Div 1 Student-Athlete Representative so I was in on making the decision to do things this way. There quite literally was no other way to do things without messing things up for a lot more people. Even so, it sucks big time to have to tell our seniors that they don't get to play another game, and that I was part of the decision to do that.

We're going to work on a contingency plan for the future so that this doesn't happen again. Lars is going to release a message later today (I believe) detailing the process and what happened and why it happened. National Sports Center broke the contract they had with us that said they would provide fields no matter what weather conditions were like, which is why there was such an issue this year.

Since they broke the contract, do you know if the UMLL will be getting our money back...I am assuming probably?

I'm not entirely sure, but what I DO know is that Rob Graff, the league director, is a high-caliber lawyer in the South Metro.

If I was NSC, I would be crapping myself right now.

Just a UMLL Div 2 tidbit...SJU is headed to Texas for the championship series. A MALA alum, Jim Darcy, is an SJU goalie. See http://www.collegelax.us/ for all the brackets (MCLA D1 and 2)

That's cool to see. St. Thomas (who I believe is the better team of the 2 this year) and Minn-Duluth are also headed down there, should be a good year. Are you by chance going to head down to watch Coach Darcy? I think I may cough up 25 bucks for the 4 games online.
