| Pre-Season:
1) Arrowhead 2) Waunakee 3) Wausau 4) Middleton 5) Marquette 6) Sun Prairie 7) Milw. Eastside 8 Kettle Moraine 9) Neenah 10) Verona
pretty confident on the top 5, i'm no expert on the rest of the state, but i think that PRE_SEASON, this is how the teams should be looking.

| Since I have not played any Madison teams except for Sun Prairie and Verona, I can't really make a top 10 because I don't know how the Madison teams square up...but I can go out there and throw a list together if it'll make you happy.
1) AHS or Marquette(depends on what each team can come up with) 3)Wausau 4)Waunakee 5) SP 6) Middleton 7) Eastside 8 ) KM
Ok I'm going to stop there because if I went any farther it would just be complete guesses.

| What makes you think they wont be good? They should have made it to the state tourny last year. I'm pretty sure you have to be a good team to do that. | |

| i know you can't take everything you see from indoor, but i didn't really see too much talent throughout indoor. But, it is possible that maybe their good players didn't play. But from what i saw, it seems they aren't going to be top 4 or 5 in the state. | |

| You can still be on the list of top 10 teams and not be top 4 or 5 in the state. But USM's indoor team beat Arrowheads team, that doesnt mean USM should be considered as the front runner this year for the state championship | |

| Indoor has almost no transfer to outdoor...the style is VERY different. The only thing you can tell from indoor is someone's stick skills, passing and dodging. Other than that, the play of the game is very different once you get the gigantic amount of room in outdoor. | |

| I agree with the last statement, also there is little or no defense, and the teams arnt exactly set up as they would be during the season, granted many of the kids from the same school play on the same team that doesnt mean all of those players are Varsity player, and it also doesnt mean that the entire Varsity team is at indoor. | |

Let me explain to you what the deal was with Middleton during indoor: 3 Varsity players came to indoor on a regular basis (no seniors) 75% of players at indoor were freshman The goalie that did come will likely not see playing time. -Middleton has 64 players in its program -30 of those players are freshman -roughly 30 players would come out on any given day to indoor -that makes roughly 7 sophomores and juniors at any indoor session -27 other players (sophomores juniors and seniors) either played a winter sport (mostly hockey, basketball and wrestling) or didnt attend indoor. If you base your opinions of a team on that, then your views are flawed. Don't worry about Middleton this year. They are stacked, as usual. I had the opportunity to practice with them over my spring break this past week, heres my rundown: Attack-- Between hummel and bonebreak you cant really go wrong. also, Olejnik would be a top attackman on any other team in the conference Midfield-- Ridiculously athletic. Great stick skills, i was extremely impressed with Luke Fass. Hes got great size, is an expert on ground balls, and superb stick skills. Defense-- with Dave Utterback and Ben Mellum they have great size on defense, and Cody Hurd adds one of the best sticks i've seen since the days of Storts/Trevor Wirth (i'd say Cody is a distant third as far as stick skills from a pole, but its hard to compete with these two) Goalie-- Middleton has 4 goalies. I was impressed with Junior Tate Fuhrman. any of the four goalies could start for Middleton this season, so we'll see how that goes.

| Don't worry man, people jump whenever you say a team won't be good. I said the perennial bottom feeder Stoughton wouldn't be good and people jumped on me. But IMO, you were probably wrong. Nothing against you, but Middleton has a lot of kids to pick from and only a select few teams in this state can say that. That doesn't always translate to success, but it does greatly improve the chances of it. | |

Probably, the best pole that can use both hands to do everything.
Goalie-- Middleton has 4 goalies. I was impressed with Junior Tate Fuhrman. any of the four goalies could start for Middleton this season, so we'll see how that goes. There can be only one. They form together to make a Megazord Goalie to battle the evil little white rubber ball shaped Putties.

| no no no no no no no, Green bay SW lost every starter from last year but Tom. I know tom is good but if one good player makes you a top 15 team, then i really do not know what to say about wisconsin lacrosse. Tom Van Valkanburg for the ones who dont know who I'm talking about. | |

| For many teams, this weekend signifies the commencement of the 2008 high school lacrosse season in Wisconsin as many teams are scheduled to play their first games (I say scheduled to play because, as we live in Wisconsin, the weather means that there are no guarantees). Regardless, I thought I would put in my last second rankings on how I think the state appears at this point of the year:
Wisconsin 2008 Top Ten: 1. Sun Prairie 2. Marquette 3. Middleton 4. Waunakee 5. Kettle Moraine 6. Arrowhead 7. Wausau 8. Milw. Eastside 9. Verona 10. Bayport
Justification: 1. Sun Prairie - 2007 finalist that returns all but two starters gives Sun Prairie the nod as the early frontrunners. 2. Marquette - a state semi-finalist team that returns all but one varsity player, including the teams top three scorers, all three midfield lines, the entirety of the defense, and both of their goalies. 3. Middleton - a solid program year in and year out, Middleton returns a strong core of talent and Hummel adds an extra shooter to the attack. 4. Waunakee - a big, athletic team that pulled off some bigs wins in 2007, look for them to continue to grow in '08. 5. Kettle Moraine - a first year team in '07, KM has a shitload of kids and a lot of talent. A strong attack led by Zach Nichols will lead the way. 6. Arrowhead - as the 2007 state champions, many people will wonder why I have them so low. Yes they return a lot of talent on offense, though just too many defensive question marks at this point. 7. Wausau - Third place in state last season. They look to be the early leader coming out of BayVal conference ast this point. 8. Eastside - loads of talent at the midfield, highlighted by Joe Boticelli and Kyle Franzen. Questions at goaltender though. 9. Verona - I don't know much about Verona this year, though usually a strong team. I have heard that they are the most likely team in MALARed to challenge Middleton. 10. Bayport - Consistently a decent team coming out of the BayVal conference, they have my pick as the team most likely to challenge Wausau.
