Probably came down to if the two teams played eachother, and if so, who won it. That is usally how some sports do it.

they split on the year 1-1

I couldn't tell you why but it was most likely goals... I just took the seedings right off the MALL website

think it was because arrowhead lost at start of season by 4, but won by 5 the next time? So goal differential maybe? Have little to no idea but my guess would be that

Verona loses to Waunakee. Not 100% of the score but I heard 13-5 Waunakee, probably off though. I also was told Middleton beat Sun Prairie, no idea on the score in that one.

Waunakee/Verona final was 14-7. Congrats Waunakee and Middleton on the W's, you two are very solid teams to be representing MALA.

Also, it looks like Verona might not have a goalie for Brewtown Showdown this summer June 21-22nd in Milwaukee. So if there are any goalies who wanna play for us that would be sweet. Hit me up on here or email me at seanrnelson@gmail.com.

MAYLA conference tournament seeding, MUHS/AHS:

conference record, head to head, goal differencial in head to head play, and the fourth tie breaker would be goal differential in common opponents.

If all that is a wash, they go to laxpower score...

PostSubject: Re: 2008 Playoffs   2008 Playoffs - Page 3 EmptyThu May 29, 2008 10:27 pm

This was only the second game I have seen Middleton play this year, I am really not sure what to think.

Those kids have all the athleticism and talent you can get, there is just such minor things that prevent them from being a great team. They have no sense about how to clear the ball, either the wing the ball all the way down field, or give it too one midfielder who tries to run through there entire attack. The offense has no clue how to cherish the ball, after a solid five minutes of defense, the ball will get thrown away on forced transition and tight feeds that should not be thrown. Decision making is slightly off, shot choice etc.

To be honest, I think they could be one of the best teams the state has ever seen, they just cannot seem to completely put it all together. I am extremely impressed with there new goalie, who plays like he has been in goal for years. There defense is solid, has great athletes, and good sticks, but tends to get themselves out of position too much with fancy take away checks, and sliding with sticks instead of body. I love the athleticism Bryce Packard brings to the table, and that kid has a great stick.

Waunakee played very well. They have a good understanding of the game, and are very good at possessing the ball and controlling the clock, which is honestly, a huge part of the game, especially so in high school. Great game.

Middleton guys, keep working, and take this as advice, not insult. This is coming from someone who played at Middleton. You guys have a great chance to win it all, just put it together.

Well I'd like to congratulate Waunakee. You guys have come a long way in the past couple of years and have become a first class organization. Middleton is extremely up and down, if they can play like they did versus Marquette the next two games, very easily they can win state. Good luck to both of you. Who plays Milwaukee's winner and who plays Green Bay's winner? I'm led to assume Middleton will travel and Waunakee will host someone.

Waunakee plays Wausau or Appleton @ Middleton (Hosting)

Remember when everyone expected Marquette to walk in to state in 2006? Yeah, you guys beat them. Try not to suffer the same fate to say a KM. (Note: I honestly have no idea who's left in Milwaukee playoffs so if they're out already my bad)

2008 Playoffs - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: 2008 Playoffs   2008 Playoffs - Page 3 EmptyFri May 30, 2008 10:59 am

The difference in the game last night was patience. Waunakee took care of the ball and waited for Middleton to make mistakes. When Middleton had a penalty or threw the ball away carelessly Waunakee usually capitalized on it. Middleton just always seemed to be in too much of a hurry. Their players would rather make a bad pass than hold onto the ball for more than 5 seconds. They were constantly trying to make the perfect pass between two or three defenders in heavy traffic, which only worked out for them once in the game, leading to a goal. But the other twenty times they passed into traffic it led to a turnover. They seem to want play a pretty chaotic style that is great when it is clicking, improvising like playing Jazz. But in a tough game against better competition they need to take better care of the ball.
Both teams were very solid on defense when at full strength. If Middleton had been more careful with the ball it probably would have been a very low scoring game because once each defense was set they were almost unpenetrable. The officiating seemed to be a bit unbalanced in favor of Waunakee. Very few calls went Middleton's way all night. Some calls were obviously legit but many others were pretty sketchy and nitpicky. When Middleton was a man down Waunakee usually seemed to be able to pick them apart and get the goal. Also I think there were only one or two faceoffs all game long without an illegal procedure call. The whistle was blowing constantly making for a very herky-jerky game. Sid was definitely the shining star on the field.
Middleton also wasn't nearly as sharp catching and pickup up the ball last night as I've seen them before. Many passes were way off target. Not sure if the wet field/wet meshes had anything to do with it, but it didn't seem to affect Waunakee as much.
Waunkee is obviously very well coached and played a great game last night. Congratulations!

That's a good point. The one thing about Middleton's offense I noticed was that they weren't relaxed and wouldn't settle the ball. Their defense is outstanding though.

Middleton's defense would work hard and get a stop/turnover and then just throw the ball away back to Waunakee. At times it almost seemed like they didn't want the ball.
