- While I'm glad that Stoughton has a youth program, I don't see them having a team on madlax.org (meaning that their program has no schedule of competition on that website). I'm just saying, now and for the future, programs that don't have youth will struggle to compete. The youth programs are the foundation for WI lacrosse. This is how lacrosse develops. I'm glad to see Verona Orange JV being very competitive and beating our JV. In the past our JV has been dominant based upon pure talent. Now, strategy and coaching has become a factor in the game. This has raised the play to a new level. I forsee a different and more adaptable game of lacrosse for WI. It only excites me as a coach to be able make philosophies and strategies for my team as opposed to just pure tactics for certain players to "win" me the game. Seeing in my neighborhood kids shooting on goals with lacrosse sticks makes me very sentimental as I never would have seen that when I was in high school here. Sorry for going off topic from the results of the week. Just in the spirit of the season, and filled with vicarious feelings...
Stoughton does have a youth team. I'm not sure why they aren't on madlax.. I help coach then with Pat Shea. We play Shorewood tomorrow in Sun Prairie

| It is my opinion that as long as the Stoughton club relies on outsiders to run their youth program they will be at a disadvantage. The Stoughton club does not have a youth program. The program is run by Lacrosse Amercia. Stoughton is not in mayla becase Pat would not let them join the league becasue he said they could not compete. That's a cop out. Our youth team did not win a game our first season but we competed. The next season we went .500. I really don't blame Pat. I put the blame on the Stoughton club for lack of effort. Pat is just doing what a businesman does, find a void and fill it and profit by it.
Same applies to Jainseville, it obvious those players have much to learn aboubt the game. Those clubs need to get organized from bottom up. I have nothing against LA. Instructionals are great but the teams are playing competitive, so to speak, at 5th grade. But I guess something is better than nothing at this stage.

| Stoughton youth couldnt compete because they lack the numbers to build a 5/6 or a 7/8. They have enough to have a team but competing in either age group, they dont have enough. The fact is that there are kids in Stoughton, learning the game.
Stoughton is also on the smaller end, so people moving to Stoughton over Madison, doesnt make alot of room for some coach with experience to come through and assist the program.

i'll let the players give you a more in-depth report. I didnt actually play, i just got the score off of laxpower and made a few phone calls. back when jack played ignatius (score wasnt actually 17-1{checked laxpower}), it was a totally different team/situation - and therefore, no cookies. MUHS has beat ignatius in the past as well, but in all likelyhood(sp?) Marquette played a pretty good game.

| Butters you get your cookie when I get mine. Ignacious was such a joke when we played them, you are right BPB. They stepped out of their coach bus already padded up, with their matching everything. Their coach had them do pushups and instead of counting they went 'Middleton' on the way down, then counted "1!" on the way up 'Middleton' '1' 'Middleton' '2' 'Middleton' '3' Pretty intimidating... My bad, the score was 12-3 aganst Ignacious. The game I was thinking of was actually against MUHS, and the score was 19-3. Cookie please? | |

Cookie please? Regarding St. I, they played at a different level this year than any of the past three years that we played them. Two years ago, we rolled them and won by around eight; last year, we played a tight game and lost in OT. This year, St. I was much more organized, better coached, more controlled, and they were just a better looking squad. Besides beating us, they only lost to SLUH 9-7 and Brebeuf 8-7...that's impressive by my standards
