wausau beat middleton tonight 8-3.

we were more focused on playing SP then anything and went into the game with that mindset. we went up 1-0 right away and then let them get some goals.

wausau possessed the ball a lot and didn't let us get any offense time in the second half.

i can't believe how many shots were just wide or post tonight. score would have been completely different if both teams hit the net.

ya it was an evenly matched game i thought... the score may not show it but it was. Once again penalties killed us. I smoked a kid in the helmet and he scored right after it, and then while i was in the box another defender hit him in the head again, and then they scored on that 2 man down... I think like 4 or 5 of the goals were man down.. but wausau is a good team for sure.

also add,

our d pole #45 broke his head on a slash when defending a player with the ball. instinct told him to just run off the field, no joke. it looked odd cause he was playing him in-front of the crease and then he just let him go and they scored their 3rd goal. he got to the bench and was like...oh crap

pretty funny, sucks they scored off of it

Big Dipper and Guru:

On behalf of the Wausau Team - thanks for inviting us to play last night.

You have a class act in coach Jace Rauman, your parents were super-friendly and you have an awesome facility.

Also, I was very impressed with your team. The game was closer than the score reflected and I thought both teams' defenses were stingly. It was a great contest and could have went either way until the fourth quarter.

Best of luck in the playoffs!

I am sure you will make some noise when you get there.

By the way Guru: I am not sure you want to put in a post it was a "fun" game. That can be misinterpreted a number of ways and sounds like you are not being a gracious opponent. I thought both teams played hard and calling it "fun" diminishes the effort of your team and your opponent. I am sure you didn't mean it the way it came out -but......

Also, your comment will make for great bulletin board material if you have to play Wausau at State.

Just some friendly advice from an old fart.

Again, thanks for a great game and being a classy team.

i know what he means by "fun." Despite the loss.. i had alot of fun in the game, yea i tried hard and played competitive and physical but it was still fun.

just a game to work on stuff for state against a very, very legit team.

PostSubject: Re: Week of 5/18   Week of 5/18 EmptySun May 25, 2008 12:15 pm

well to clarify, I am Jace.

i didn't say that the game was just a "fun" game. in terms of playing around not caring about it at all. we found out that sun prairie was going to be playing us in our next game and we really wanted to get revenge on them.

but to play such a battle against you guys really made it a fun game to coach in. because that was true lacrosse, up and down the field. and again, you guys are class acts... not taking a penalty all game, really working good defense, owning the middle of the field... etc.

so no trash talking was on my behalf or anything used to fuel any fire. both teams missed the net, it could have been easy a 20 goal game each side if that was the case.

and the only funny part i was saying was about how the stick broke. our d-pole has a... "FOOTBALL FOOTBALL FOOTBALL" mindset so naturally he just left the play, it was pretty expected/hilarous. HA, no offense to David.

Jace:

Thanks for the note.

Appreciate what you are saying. A few of our guys read the comment differently. As I said, was sure it had a different meaning.

Sometimes we get a bit defensive in our conference due to our lack of exposure to the Milwaukee and Madison teams.

Again, great game and best of luck in the playoffs.

Hey moneygoalie, thanks for the shot complement. The shot you are talking about was probably the fastest shot I have ever taken, it helped that I had space to take a 3 step crow hop. But you guys are right, I think that game would have been a lot closer if you didn't get like 3 penalties in the 3rd quarter.
