| I believe that Appleton winning state was a fluke. They beat my team in a game where not a single player had a game even remotely resembling how we had played in even our WORST game that season. It seemed as if we had a hex on us. They scored at least three goals from outside the restraining box, absolutely nothing went right.
Then they got to play Arrowhead, A first year team, in the state championship, because Arrowhead beat MUHS on a FLUKE goal in overtime.
It probably more than likely should have been Middleton vs Marquette in the championship, but that didn't happen so I continue to be bitter towards Appleton and their complete lack of lacrosse players. They had a bunch of athletes, but not one true lacrosse player.

| that year def was a fluke, marquette shud have won state that year, if you look at the scores, marquette dominated every team they faced that year (except when going to brebuf and obviously the lost to arrowhead) | |

| Yeah, the 2006 final def should have been the Marquette v. Middleton throwdown...instead it was Appleton v. Arrowhead...lame | |

| I would put Waunakee above Arrowhead personally. But those top 4 are interchangeable with any argument. | |

| i dont get how waunakee, who beat middleton 9-5, is ranked 4th, behind two teams that lost this weekend. If you want middleton 1 for beating the number one team in the state, so be it. but waunakee should be 2 imo. | |

Yeah listing the top four was a difficult call for me. While Waunakee did beat Middleton, they also lost to Arrowhead. This complicates things because going into the weekend Arrowhead was undefeated and ranked #1 by pretty much everybody. Arrowhead's loss to Marquette does not put them below Wauanakee in my opinion, because Arrowhead (who has the exact same record as Waunakee), holds the tie-breaker in that they won the head-to-head contest. On a similar note, just because Marquette lost to Middleton on Saturday, does that mean that they shouldn't reap the benefits of beating the previous #1 team in the state on Friday? I don't know, it's very difficult to discern how to place the top four teams, so I can obviously understand your views at this point. I tried to base my decision off of a mixture of my personal views (which are not complete as I have not seen Waunakee play this year) and what other people on this thread had been saying. I know the top ten is not perfect, though after this past weekend, I don't know how any top ten could be. Hopefully the Waunakee-Middleton game will clear things up. My thought is, if Middleton wins, they will remain #1; if Waunakee wins, they are the favorite in my opinion to gain the #1 spot.

| Wow.
Appleton winning was a fluke? Huh. They beat two very good teams in AHS and Middleton. I was at both games. No fluke.
I seem to recall there was alot of griping by the MUHS guys when AHS beat them. Was that a fluke too?
Sounds like sour grapes here. You guys in Milwaukee sure have a strong sense of self-worth. I will give you that. Or, I guess as LAXMONKEY calls it "smack". Might be nice if we just confine our posts to objective facts here.
Appleton had a very talented team that year, as did AHS, Middleton, Regents and MUHS But, you don't win on reputation. That is why we play the games.
Appleton's problem was they put a lot of effort in those 16 seniors and didn't develop their bench. The results are predictable. You have a tough rebuilding job.
They have never rebounded. Neenah and Wausau seem to reload every year and they have more sustainable programs. Their problem is their conference is weaker than MALA and MAYLA so when they get to the playoffs they aren't as battle tested.
It looks like MUHS, AHS, Middleton and Waunakee are the top 4 teams this year. Wausau will make it to State if they don't look past Neenah this weekend - though I doubt they have the depth to win in Madions.
However, don't think for a minute the 2006 Appleton team couldn't compete with you guys. They could ...... That was a very good team.

| 2006 Appleton is legit, not a fluke. Verona played them in 2005 when we won state and they gave us one of our toughest games with us eventually winning 12-6. From what I've been led to believe they lost little to nothing from that team which is why they won state in '06. | |

| I thought Middleton was an overall better team, but that doesn't mean Appleton wasn't legit. They earned the state championship that year, it wasn't handed to them. Hard to call that game a "fluke". | |

| I'll say this about that game.
Marquette was obviously the better team; more talent & more experience. But since lacrosse is a sport, even the best team can lose. AHS played one of their best games and Marquette just didn't seem to click that day.

| haha yes laxofficial it was a fluke when arrowhead beat marquette that year, earlier in the season marquette beat arrowhead twice one time 18-1. Some of marquettes best players were gone, and they just played horrible | |

Don't quite know how to put top four so just tied them all.. As i see it any team can win a game against the other three on any given day, whatever team is clicking.

I think they just need to go make a little tournament and have each team play the 5 other teams. Then we can settle this. But knowing how this season is going, they will be all be like 2-3, or 3-2.

| I'd say depending on the score, if Waunakee wins again in a close game I'd go Waunakee 1 and Middleton 2 with Marquette and Arrowhead 3/4 respectively. Simply because Waunakee's loss to AHS was by one goal if I recall and the 2nd or 1st game of the season. If Middleton wins decisively over Waunakee, I'd probably go with Middleton #1 then Marquette/waunakee/AHS in a mix. | |

| Arrowhead was winning by at least 4 goals for most of the game. We broke down with about maybe 5 minutes left? around there and they scored their goals but we held on to win by 1. | |
