that's tight! I hope that we can get into that battle this year. i think we have a chance to at least be in the fight for the conference this year.

thats true except you cant really judge the season off of indoor. its completely different game play and idk about other teams but we were missing 6-7 starters and they were replaced with sophomores. This season should be a good one for the bay valley with a lot of competition and probably many close games. Good luck to all.

So, who do you guys think has the most talent this year? were there any key returning players on any team? i know we had some starting attackmen that came back, and some really solid midfield. Our goalie Jake Smith returns as captain this year too, which should prove to be a benefit. we are kind of lacking on our poles though.

we have our best shooter back in Mike Pannke...

as far as the thing with your long poles.....you guys did lose Nick HAmmachek, that is a pretty huge loss

i honestly dont believe that is a huge loss for us. yea he was a good d-pole, but he also didnt really have the right attitude for our team. any problem was "never" his fault. He was a strong asset, but i dont think it will make much of a difference in a game situation. i believe our biggest loss was alex smith, probably THE BEST FO Specialist in the midwest. I remember going to lax camp with the kid and he was getting recruited to go to gettysburg to faceoff for them. no joke....

I agree, Pannke is an all around solid lacrosse player. Good speed, pretty good stick skills, and great field sense. Watch for him to one of the best in the Bayval conference this year.

How many other FO 'specialists" have you seen in the midwest? I highly doubt he was one of the best. You can think what you want, people have their opinions. I've never seen the kid play, let alone heard of him, but I'm sticking with what I think. I'm sure the kid is good, but lets see him go up against kids from Michigan, Minnsota, Illinois, Ohio, or maybe a few Madison or Milwaukee teams (Zach Transue in particular).

okay, why are we hating on each-other?

1) who are you to say that he isnt one of the best in the state? one of the best in the midwest? have you seen the kid play? have you faced off against him? have you faced off against the best of the best from michigan/illinois/missouri?

2) who are you to say "there's no way gettysburg was talking to him"??? are you the recruiting rep from gettysburg? do you coach for Gettysburg?

What do you guys care that he was the best in the bayVal? what do you even care that the bayVal is talking up their players? you should be thanking these guys for coming on the forums and sharing what they know about the game, sharing what they know about the teams in that conference. the last team to win a state title prior to Arrowhead was a BayVal team(appleton, 2006). Just because the only bayVal team making any noise on the forums/in the state is Wausau the past two seasons, doesnt mean that the rest of the conference should be ashamed to post their opinions. prior to Wausau's dominance, it was appleton. Prior to appleton the darkhorse out of the north was Menasha. until the WLF makes a greater effort to force out of conference games, then you cant make that judgement.

i'm sorry, people just make me mad when they talk down other players based upon false pretenses.

i totally agree, i came on this site to talk more about bay val, all i ever see is milwaukee or madison stuff and i wanted to get some more bay val rep in here. WE are very underestimated and we want to prove to you guys we have the skill to compete. I've been to camps and combines of some of the best kids in the midwest, we arent that far behind them if you ask me. And yes, Alex Smith WAS talked to by Gettysburg, i was there, with him... He is by far one of the best in the state, and most likely in the midwest, and if you disagree, then you havent seen him play. also, im not saying that he would have gotten alot of playing time there either, he just would faceoff then run off the field to switch. you dont have to be an amazing lacrosse player to be amazing at faceoffs.

o and P.S. we were at a lax combine at the time when he was asked. he said no because he wanted to play lacrosse and not JUST faceoff, so he went and played for carthage. I'm saying this to tell you that there was a lot of good players they could have looked at, but they chose him.

Agreed. There isn't any need to hate on kids, especially kids you've never seen play.

P.S, your on the WISCONSIN Lacrosse Forums, why come on here and hate on the whole state? Confidence issues? I played high school lacrosse in this state, and in Missouri, and like a lot of the members, played a ton of teams from Illinois, and Wisconsin is progressing quite well. I for one am proud of how far this state has come in such a short time.

We need to stop hating so much in here, or else we'll just close threads altogether until everyone grows up.

Although Smith may be a very good faceoff specialist, be careful when stating "the best FO specialist in the midwest". Don't forget that the midwest includes some of the best players from Minnesota, Illinois, and Ohio (states that constantly produce top D1 talent). For example, the FOGO from Naperville North in Chicago just verbally committed to UMass.

not a huge loss? i don't know about that....Hammachek was first team all-conference last year and is playing NCAA lacrosse for carthage right now.....i don't see how you can say something like that about him

This thread has been cleaned for the last time. The punishments have been handed out and I know we are all over it.

This topic has generated a lot of traffic, and aside from the few haters, a lot of great discussion. Thats the only reason its staying open. Please continue the discussion in a productive way or this thread will be closed.

Last warning.

Well I personally can see what he's saying with him not being exactly the best team player, as I remember when we played you guys last year, he was constantly yelling at every d-pole you guys brought out to the field.

Anyway, from as little as I know about bay val, here it is:

Notre Dame: pretty good but seemed a bit divided and could've focused more on a more skilled style of play over just trying to lay people out on defense. don't remember much about their offense, but if they can come together, they could be really good.

Appleton: they had a pretty good attacka nd middie line from what I remmeber. I was able to play with a few of their players at badger state, and I'd have to say, they were pretty good, especially middie nick anderson. He can run the offense prety well from up top and is sick at braveharts haha. (if anyone remembers him owning that kid from georgia in one). Not sure how many they graduated, but they should turn out to a challenge to all competitors if they didn't graduate many.

Metro: played them only once, two years ago. I'm assuming they've graduated a bunch. The only thing i can say about them, is that they can be really good if play a much more skilled field game, rather than their box style of play they had two years ago.

thats all i know from bay val, because thats all i've played against. Lookin forward to playin metro n appleton again later this year.

we have graduated quite a few guys since then but also since then we have gotten a new coach who actually knows what he's doing rather than some old box player that didn't teach us anything

also i look forward to playing you guys this year too...it should be interesting...you guys and University school are the only teams we play from the milwaukee area this year and we play you guys on the same day haha

that's good, you're old coach didn't really seem to be to keen on the field game, just box, and hardcore box at that. that'll be a good day cuz we play appleton that day too. should be a good day, as long as my team can completely committ to the team, otherwise it'll be a looooonnnngggg ride home pale

middleton lost a number of key players but surprisingly is going to fill those rolls with very talented underclassmen. as well as adding a very knowledgeable coach makes them just as much as a threat.

the attack position seems iffy in some peoples eyes with the graduation of hummel. there are 5 JV players hungry for the attack spots as well as 3-4 returning attackmen.

midfield lost five midfielders to graduation and a junior, but rumor has it that casey kelso (SR) is back in wisconsin to play, he was the junior who left to play hockey in florida. there is just as much depth at the midfield that rivals the 04/05 seasons.

defense returns very capable defense with a strong sr class. size and skill are huge here with a defensive minded coach that really knows his stuff (syracuse...heard of them?) should prove that the defense is one of the best in the state.

goalie returns tate furhman who has been working like crazy to get better, returning for only his second ever season with lacrosse, the unorthodox but proven natural talent should prove a banner year for him. with the defense in front of him this makes the defensive core very strong.

Alrite I was just wondering because MALA will probably be between Waunakee and Middleton again and Waunakee only lost there goalie, but it is a big lose and there JV goalie didn't seem that good last year.
