| the game wasn't sloppy. i hate to say it but more calls were missed in our favor then anything. i called for two time-outs and the red-head ref "didn't hear me". he seemed new and not sure of the rules.
Middleton came out very focused from start to finish.
there were THREE ice picks that resulted in our team having injured players...
marquette was offsides more time then i could count. getting used to using football 50 yard lines have that effect we have seen.
on our side we had one push from behind that wasn't called, and one slash to the face that wasn't called the first time. then it was called the second.
defensively this was our game. marquette seemed to panic a little and they turned the ball over a lot and we ended up capitalizing.
we hit 4 posts during the game, two wide open nets that were shot just wide.
bottom line, if marquette didn't play last night and we were at their field... i think the score would have been a lot closer. they were the best opponent team i have ever coached against (except hopkins, MN)

| As cool as the ice pick is...I highly doubt any high school player can pull it off clean; even then it could very easily be considered a slash. A ref should call it every time. | |

- Middleton just dominated Marquette defensively. Both Danny Meyers and Gebhard were pretty much 100% contained and anytime they beat their defender there was a slide instantly. Offensively Middleton got goals from Hummel making Marquette's goalie look silly with a snipe, also with goals from Bonebreak, Kiel Peterson and Watson. Reffing was pretty bad, they let things go, but there was an ice pick that should have been a 3 minute penalty, and AT LEAST 10 offsides. Middleton's goalie played outstanding. Marquette is a great team. I watched them versus Arrowhead yesterday and regardless of the score it never appeared Arrowhead had a chance of winning that game. This game shows that any top team in Madison or Milwaukee could win on any given day. I'm assuming same could be said for Wausau but I haven't seen them play yet.
Ya they seemed to be offsides a lot in the Arrowhead game also... those got called pretty well though

| the last ice pick in the game was way out of line, it wasnt even close. I was 5 yards away and i was pissed cause i thought we were going to get a penalty.
game wise... Middleton was the better team today. On mostly all aspects of the game, hard fought ground balls. Nice game boys

| ya without a doubt middleton was the better team today, muhs played pretty sloppy, especially their shooting, they were just having trouble getting their shots on goal
i thought middletons goalie played amazing, the few goals that were accurate the goalie was able to save, im def looking foward to the state tournament

Marquette is a classy team and played a great game, but that was least sportsmanlike thing I've seen in a while. He had 0 chance of pulling it off, and he straight up tackled the kid, actually injuring himself and the other player. Took away from an otherwise great game by both sides.

| I'm happy to see the respect teams are starting to have for eachother, even after a tough loss. I think it can say a lot about the state of the game in the state. I think all the older guys on here can contest, its been a long road since the Verona Forums.
I am very excited to get back to Wisconsin in a few weeks and see how the game has progressed at the H.S level.

| yeah it was a good game marquette is the toughest team we have played all year. but imo it could have been alot diffrent for either team. middleton did not have there entire first line middies there because they went to prom, and some others left at halftime. and marquette did play a really tough game the night before. so that game was not completly accurate to what the playoffs will be like. but it was a good game over all and nice to come out with a win. | |

Thats not true The people who were missing were: #21 Casey Kelso (1st Line Middie) #12 Ford Malmquist (3rd Line Middie) #91 Tyler Lundey (4th Long Pole)

| Also though, Hummel played really only a quarter or two because of an injury to his finger so to beat a team like Marquette by 3 goals without your star and best player is quite a feat.

| Yes, thats true i broke my thumb in the 2nd quater. but i did still play, i just could not use my right hand or shoot very hard. but other players really stepped up when they knew i was hurt espically our defense and my other 2 attackmen, it was great to see that | |
