What happened to the West and Waunakee scrimmage on Sat.? Snowed out?

The Stoughton Verona scrimmage was canceled today.

I heard Urm wasn't playing this year.. can anybody back that up?

That's also what I was told. We had a player like that last year, Eric Kind, who was a great player, but in the 07 classes eyes must not have been that great of a leader. He also ended up quitting. Without Urm in net, if he doesn't come back, how will this effect Verona's season?

The waunakee vs. west scrimmage was cancelled due to the weather forcast. However, it was scheduled for 10:30 varsity, and noon jv game, during none of which was it snowing... so that was a little dissappointing..

on the thoughts about waunakees jv goalie from last year... if only losing 4 games out of 12+ is bad in your eyes, so be it. plus, he only allowed 10+ once during the season, his first game ever as a goalie, against arrowhead.

Waunakee canceled, I think, more because they were concerned about their field getting torn up than anything else...like just about everyone else their grass field is probably iffy now and I totally understand where they were coming from. Still, it would have been fun to scrimmage. Hopefully the Regents v Vikings game in Stoughton game will be played this Thursday.

Verona has adequete backups to have a respectable season. Certainly takes them out of any conversation involving them winning their division. But I think putting them a very slight step below West would be accurate at least for a preseason prediction. The two JV goalies they had last year both had a lot of potential, as the season moves on and whichever one wins the starting spot gains experience, they could be just as competitive. Certainly a hit to their defensive half of the field, but that was going to be their strongest point going in, this just puts more pressure on their ability to put up points.

All of the holes have been completely filled for middleton's losses plus some. We have a couple new kids playing this year, David Ripp who played as a kick returner for middleton's football team. Todd Koritzinsky who is hands down the best hockey player middleton had this year. Dave is a junior and Todd is a sophmore. Both are solid, agile and smart players and have fit right in with our team. Cody hurd was the ONLY pole we lost from last year and his spot was filled quick by bryce packard, who is just as good if not better than cody.

Middleton is stacked again, like last year... hopefully with the new coaching staff and more dedication from everyone we will be able to finish the season better than we did last year.

So i dont know if there is a seperate 2009 results thread, but laxpower has Brookfield vs. Waukesha and Heritage Christian vs. Janesville scheduled to play tomorrow. Does anyone know if the games are still on since the fields will most likely be muddy?

How does a stacked team lose 4 times to the same team

Dedication, having only one coach, attitude... etc etc

i hope by "only one coach" you mean only one head coach - in the sense that a team is not changing head-coaches midseason. it's awfully hard to run a team all by yourself...

anyway, sounds pretty exciting to me! those are some hefty expectations you've set for yourself, and your team, big dipper. i cant wait to see middleton in action this spring.

Sorry for seeming like a jerk there I just don't think you can call a team stacked when they can't win their own conference.

Arrowhead playing Wausua this weekend seems like the first big game of the year. Seeing as these two teams are the likely leaders of their respective conferences, anyone have any predictions?

Don't know if we should make a new thread for scores of games this year but. . .this seemed like a good place to put it for now.

middleton was still one of the best teams last year in the state. even with four losses to the same team, they were obviously better then we were in the times that it mattered. middleton still upset marquette and made it to the semi finals...again. in the history of the program middleton has been in state every year except once and even won a state championship.

and coach goldberg has done so much for this team and i know that our success wouldn't be as high if he wasn't around.

I really dont believe that wasau is going be the power house it used to be, it might, but from what ive seen from them preseason, and after their huge senior loss, i think that this is going to be more of a rebuilding year for them. So dont be suprised if you see some new teams this year that the state tournament!

The Arrowhead Wausau game is officially canceled for Sunday. I'm not sure about rescheduling yet, and the game between Arrowhead and Waukesha is a toss up right now due to all the snow we are suppose to get. I will post news as soon as I hear.

Now that its about halfway through the season and you've been able to see a lot of teams perform, any changes in peoples predictions for state, conferences, etc?

I still like AHS to take it all again...but I will make my final call after they play MUHS.

I dont think arrowhead will win it all this year... sun prairie only lost to them 5-2
